Fri - We begin our adventure in the atmospheric village of Eyam—“England’s Plague Village.” At Eyam Museum, uncover the gripping story of the 1665–66 plague, when the villagers heroically quarantined themselves to protect the world.  Explore evocative exhibits, from the museum’s lead mine model to poignant artefacts, Then, we will unwind with a peaceful evening at the nearby Stuart hotel in Derby.

Sat - Today we will wind through the breathtaking Derwent Valley – a UNESCO World Heritage marvel where sweeping countryside harmonises with the pioneering spirit of the Industrial    Revolution – before stepping into Derby’s spectacular Museum of Making at the historic Silk Mill, where over 30,000 artifacts, from a suspended Rolls Royce Trent 1,000 engine to the world’s smallest working engine, summon three centuries of engineering genius into immersive, hands on exhibits.

Sun - We are going to spend a delicious day in scenic Hall Leys Park (free entry!), sampling street food, artisan cheeses, craft ales, and gin cocktails from 50–80 local stalls. Enjoy live music, family-friendly entertainment—including a boating lake, miniature railway, kids’ play area—and even dog-friendly treats, all set against the charming Peak District backdrop.

Mon - Our final morning will allow for us to browse Bakewell’s bustling market over 100 stalls spilling onto Market Street and Granby Road with fresh produce, artisan breads, cheeses, crafts, and the famous Bakewell pudding—then journey on to Buxton, England’s highest spa town, to wander its elegant Georgian Crescent, stroll the Grade II Pavilion Gardens by the River Wye, and discover historic spa baths, Poole’s Cavern, and the majestic Opera House. Afterwards we’ll make tracks by early afternoon and head home.
