Mon: Travel to Belgium and Settle in Ostend

We begin our journey early, travelling to Dover to catch an afternoon ferry to Calais. Upon arrival in France, we continue by coach into Belgium and make our way to Ostend. After checking in at the centrally located Ostend Hotel, there is time to freshen up and enjoy a short walk to get your bearings. The hotel is just a stone’s throw from the promenade, beach, and shopping areas, with plenty of nearby restaurants for your evening meal. With over two decades of experience running tours to Belgium since 2000, you can be confident in a smooth and comfortable start to your holiday.

Tues: Explore Ostend – Coastal Culture and Festive Cheer

After breakfast, we spend the day discovering the charming seaside city of Ostend. In the morning, we visit the James Ensor House, followed by a stop at Mu.ZEE, which showcases a fascinating collection of Belgian art. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might explore the Christmas market in Leopoldpark, try ice skating on the floating rink, or shop along the festive streets of the city centre. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of Ostend’s many inviting restaurants and perhaps take a stroll along the beautifully lit beachfront. (please note: entry to attractions are not included in the price)

Wed: Day Trip to Bruges – Medieval Magic

Today we take a short trip to the stunning medieval city of Bruges for a full day of independent exploration. After arrival, the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You might choose to stroll through the historic centre, admire landmarks like Markt Square, the Belfry, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere. Browse the Christmas markets, wander along the picturesque canals, or visit one of the cities famous chocolate shops.

Thurs: Day Trip to Lille – A Taste of France

This morning, we travel across the border into France for a full day in the vibrant city of Lille. The day is entirely free for you to explore at your own pace—wander through the Grand Place and the elegant old town, admire the unique blend of Flemish and French architecture, visit the Palais des Beaux-Arts, or enjoy the festive Christmas market in Place Rihour, where the scent of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine fills the air. (Please note that no guided tours or attraction admissions are included.) Later in the afternoon, we return to Ostend for a relaxing final evening.

Fri: Return Journey Home

After a hearty breakfast, we check out of the hotel and begin our journey home. We travel back through Belgium and France, board the ferry at Calais, and return to the UK via Dover. We arrive home later in the day, bringing with us wonderful memories of our festive Belgian adventure.
