Itinerary
Mon – This morning we begin our journey north, stopping at Hebden Bridge. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside, Hebden Bridge has been voted as the "fourth funkiest town in the world" best small market town in the UK and "the greatest town in Europe". We later continue to the Cedar Court Hotel, Huddersfield in time for our evening meal.
Tue – This morning begins with a 30 minute journey through the scenic Yorkshire Dales on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway before enjoying free time for lunch in the charming market town of Skipton. In the afternoon we watch the world drift by on a relaxing 1 hour narrow boat cruise along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal through the picturesque Pennine countryside with tea and coffee served on board.
Wed – This morning we travel to Keighley to board the historic Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for a nostalgic steam journey through beautiful Bronte Country – look out for the station that starred in the classic film The Railway Children. Later we continue to Gawthorpe Hall, an elegant Elizabethan manor house set in picturesque parkland. Enjoy time to explore the hall and discover its fascinating history before returning to the hotel.
Thu – We spend a leisurely morning exploring the sleepy small town of Holmfirth, nestled in the valley and surrounded by spectacular fells. Known as the location for Last of the Summer Wine, you will recognise familiar spots such as Sid’s Café and Nora Batty’s Steps. In the afternoon we take a fascinating tour of Holmfirth Vineyard to discover its colourful history, learn about the wine making process from vine to bottle and sample the wares! We savour a sparkling afternoon tea while enjoying panoramic views across the vineyard and surrounding Peak District National Park.
Fri – After breakfast we depart the hotel and head to Bury Market. Enjoy some free time to browse the famous stalls before commencing the homeward journey.
